Women in Aquatic Science and Management Network (WASMAN) is led by accomplished women scientists and practitioners with extensive experience in aquatic science, fisheries, oceanography, climate change, and coastal governance.
The Network’s leadership provides strategic direction, professional expertise, and strong advocacy to advance inclusive participation of women in aquatic science and management, while supporting sustainable aquatic resource governance in Ghana and across the West African sub-region.

Dr. Alberta Ama Sagoe
(President)
Dr. Alberta Ama Sagoe is a coastal and marine resources management professional with expertise in fisheries and ocean governance, marine conservation, and gender mainstreaming across Africa.
She is President and Co-Founder of WASMAN and is passionate about empowering women to participate fully in sustainable aquatic resource management and policy reform. She holds a PhD in Integrated Coastal Zone Management.

Dr. Michelle Naa Kordei Clottey Sackey
(Vice President)
Dr. Michelle Naa Kordei Clottey Sackey is a fisheries scientist and lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, specializing in fish biology, stock assessment, fisheries management, and coastal resource sustainability.
She is committed to translating science into practical solutions for fisheries-dependent communities and is passionate about mentoring young women, advancing inclusive ocean governance.

Dr. Rahmat Quaigrane Duker
(Secretary)
Dr. Rahmat Quaigrane Duker is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ghana, and serves as Country Coordinator for the Blue Resources Research and Policy Institute.
Her expertise spans aquatic ecology, water quality management, pollution, and ecotoxicology, integrating science, policy, and community engagement to promote sustainable aquatic ecosystems.

Dr. Jemimah Etornam Kassah
(Treasurer)
Dr. Jemimah Etornam Kassah is a fisheries scientist, aquaculture professional, and lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana.
With expertise in fisheries research, aquaculture consultancy, climate change, and biodiversity conservation, she is passionate about advancing sustainable fisheries, Blue Justice, and inclusive communication of conservation science through research, practice, and public engagement.

Dr Elizabeth Effah
(Programmes Coordinator)
Dr. Elizabeth Effah is a coastal management specialist with expertise in coastal and marine conservation, pollution studies, climate change adaptation, and ecosystem restoration.
She is a Co-Founder of WASMAN and is passionate about capacity building and sustainable coastal management. She holds a PhD and MPhil in Integrated Coastal Zone Management and a BSc in Fisheries and Aquatic Science.
